Lifetime area resident Roger Hubert McMillan, age 64, of Waukon, Iowa died Sunday, August 13, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Wednesday August 16 at St.Patrick's Catholic Church. Father Ed Lechtenberg and the Rev. Lynn Groe conducted the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in Mt.Olivet Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Verle Palmer, Bill Votsmier, Jerry Berns, Roy Wandling, Bud Johnson, and Lynn Morrow.

Roger was born February 22, 1925 in Rake, Iowa to Glenn and Esther (Pfister) McMillan. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1943. He was in the army from 1943 to 1946, serving in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and central Europe. On November 22, 1947 he married Mary Ellen Gavin at St.Patrick's Church in Waukon, Iowa. He was the owner/operator of McMillan Oil Company for 16 years. He was employed as parts/service manager for Mark Mauss Chevrolet for 17 years, and prior to that he was in partnership with his brother in McMillan Bros. Auto Body for a number of years.

Roger had served on the Waukon City Council, Waukon Chamber of Commerce and the advisory board for mechanics at Northeast Iowa Technical Institute in Calmar, Iowa. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, cars, and stock car races.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. John (Cathy) Sheeley of Marion and Mrs. Robert (Diane) Seibert of Tonawanda, New York; three sons, Dan, Pat, and Mike McMillan, all of Waukon, Iowa; eight granddaughters, a brother, Curtis McMillan of Bell Gardens, California and a sister, Mrs. Clifford (Eloise) Snow of Roanoke, Virginia.
