Lawrence J. Imhoff, 65, of 506 Farnam St., LaCrosse, WI, died at his home Thursday July 7, 1988.
He was born July 23, 1922 in New Albin, IA to Ignatius and Julia (Sheehan) Imhoff. He worked as a postal clerk for 30 years, retiring in 1977. A Navy veteran of World War II, Imhoff was a member of Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52, LaCrosse, and Kenneth Casey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5603,New Albin.
Survivors are his wife Rita (Whalen) Imhoff; four daughters, Angela Taylor of Kasson, MN, Mary Ann Maust of New Albin, Connie Backus of England, and Michelle Imhoff of Iowa City; four sons, Don of LaCrosse, Jim and Tom, both of Janesville, WI and Gerald of New Albin; 16 grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Mark and Phyllis Heiderscheit, both of New Albin; four brothers, Vincent of Des Moines, Edmund of Corpus Christi, TX, Robert of New Albin and Jim of LaCrescent, MN.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Services were held at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 9 in Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, LaCrosse and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral. The Rev. J. Floyd Dwyer officiated. Burial with military rites by VFW Post 5603 were at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Albin with the Rev.
