Earl J. Whalen, 65, Albuquerque, NM, formerly of New Albin, died Wednesday, April 20, 1988, in Anna Kaseman Hospital, Albuquerque.
He was born November 27, 1922, in LaCrosse to Peter and Frances (Waters) Whalen.
On September 9, 1948, he married Mary Essington.
Whalen was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and later worked as a private pilot for an air charter company.
Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Sheryl Smith of Indianapolis and Lynn Schumacher of Riverside CA; three brothers, Leo and Ray of New Albin, and Dale of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Rita Imhoff and Mary Bechtel, both of New Albin; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Albin, the Rev. Henry Charipar officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites by New Albin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5603, was in the church cemetery.
The six nephews acting as pallbearers were Paul Whalen, Don Whalen, Jake Imhoff, Gerald Bechtel, Tim Bechtel and Brian Whalen.
Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, handled the arrangements.
