Evelyn “Ma” Colsch, age 79, of Freeburg, Minn., passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at her home, surrounded by many members of her family.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 15, at the Community Center in New Albin with Pastor Bill Reese officiating. Burial was in Sand Cove Cemetery, rural New Albin with her six sons as casketbearers. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home of Lansing was in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn was born in Lansing, Iowa, June 1, 1926, to Leonard and Ariel (Inman) Mulholland.
She married Edward Colsch Sr. December 22, 1942, in New Albin. They were married 55 years and Evelyn continued to live on the farm after he preceded her in death on May 18, 1997.
Evelyn dearly loved her family, her dog Duke, playing cards, especially euchre, and loved to cook, go to rummage sales, and dance to “Tiny Bubbles” or “Waltz Across Texas With You”. Later she just enjoyed riding around enjoying the scenery. Evelyn will be so very much missed.
Evelyn is survived by nine children, Margaretta Cue (Scott Carroll) of Lansing, Ariel (Peter) Gilbertson of Reno, Minn., Edward “Lug” (Kathy) Colsch of Brownsville, Minn., Evelyn “Granny” (Edward) Bebee of Reno, Raymond “Fargo” (Dolly) Colsch of Freeburg, Minn., Ronnie “Punk” Colsch of Freeburg, Merrell “Cobb” (Karen) Colsch of Reno, Calvin (Donna) Colsch of Freeburg, and Herbert (Mary) Colsch of New Albin; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Raymond (Bonnie) Mulholland of New Albin.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; nine brothers; one grandson, Rick Hutchings; and one great-grandson, Adam Woodard.
