(Known also as Barbro [Barbara] Olena [Olina] Thorson)
Olina J. Swain, daughter of Ole Thorson and Bergit Goelberg (Golberg), was born in Paint Creek Township January 26, 1853 and passed away May 28, 1944 at the age of 91 years, four months and two days.
In 1870 she was united in marriage to Stanley (Stengrim) Colbornson (Colbjornson). To this union four children were born, namely: Carl, Lansing; Ole, Minot, N.D.; Mrs. W. H. Barnes (Mary Colbornson), Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; and Stanley (deceased), Oakland, Calif. Her husband passed away in 1876 leaving her to care for her young family.
Her marriage to Hans J. Swain (Hans Johnson Swain) occurred in 1879. Six children were born to this union as follows: Mrs. Johanna Leyse, Waukon; Mrs. Bertha Dwyer, Waterloo; Oscar Johnson, Waterville; Mrs. Clara Eldridge, Waterloo; Bernard at home, and John (deceased), Raynesford, Mont.
Besides the above named children she is survived by a half sister, Mrs. Oscar Roe (Bertha Jeglum), Taylor twp., and five half brothers, Gilbert Jeglum, Waterville; Halvor, Hardisty, Alberta, Canada; Louis, Fortuna, N.D. Casper, Oakland, Calif. And Thomas, Ostrander, Minn.; 28 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Swain had spent her entire life in Paint Creek township.
