Madonna M. Blocker, 78, of the Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in the care center following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by the Rev. John Gossman. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stewart Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda (Duane) Clark of Tempe, Ariz.; a brother, Leon Schulte of Waukon; and three sisters, Aileen Hammel of Cresco, Adele Howe of Waukon and Karen Hammel of Cedar Rapids.
Madonna was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Olsen; five sisters, Lorraine Monserud, Rita May, Blanche McClain, Joan Troendle and a stillborn sister; and three brothers, Harold Schulte, Donald Schulte and J. Dale Schulte.
Madonna was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Dorchester, to Joseph G. and Rose (Duffy) Schulte. She married Russell Blocker on April 29, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. He died Jan. 22, 1995. Madonna was a dedicated worker, from her youth on the family farms through later years with Quaker Oats. Madonna enjoyed refinishing furniture in her home as a sideline. Madonna valued the friendship of her neighbors at her home in Marion.
Aunt Donna will be remembered warmly by numerous nieces and nephews.
