SPAULDING, HATCH, BARNARD, STONE, HERSEY

Asher Spaulding, father of Dr. H.D. Spaulding, and one of the early settlers of this county, died at his home in Waukon, on Thursday last, the 7th inst. He was about 70 years of age.

DEATH - Arthur Spaulding, aged over seventy years, an old and highly respected citizen of Waukon, died at his residence in that place, last Thursday morning of Dropsy.

The funeral took place last Saturday afternoon and was largely attended.

His daughters are among the most excellent people of the county and neighborhood - Mrs. L.O. Hatch, of McGregor; Mrs. C. Barnard, Mrs. M. Stone, and Mrs. Hersey, of Waukon. His son, Henry D., was the former well-known dentist of this place, now residing in Kansas.

Notes: Named as Asher Spaulding on the 1856 Iowa State census and on his gravestone in Oakland Main; and as Arthur Spaulding in the 'Woodmansee' cemetery records
