Death of a Loved Wife and Mother
Mrs. Fred Kugel passed away at the Postville hospital Thursday morning at the age of 59 years. She had been ill for a year and every effort was made to restore her health, but to no avail. Mrs. Kugel was well known and highly respected in this community.

Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stock, and was born in Ludlow township Sept. 27, 1866, where she lived all her life.

On Oct. 15, 1891, she was united in marriage with Fred Kugel. Seven children were born to them, two sons having preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, three sons and two daughters, Charley, Mrs. Mary Kruger, Mrs. Martha Handke, Fred, Elmer and Robert of Ludlow and Edward of Jefferson.

Five brothers and six sisters also mourn her loss, namely: John Stock and Mrs. W.F. Dravis of Jefferson; Mrs. Fred Grotegut of Frankville; Will Stock of Lexington, Neb.; Mrs. Mathilda Hermeier, Mrs. Mary Pausch, Mrs. Martha Pausch, Charley, Edward and Fred Stock of Ludlow, and many other relatives and friends.

She was an active member of the Bethlehem church from the time of the organization and funeral services were held there Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Widmayer in the German language and Rev. Ernst of Waukon in English. Burial was in the cemetery nearby.
