Well Known Elon Mother Taken Monday Following Several Weeks Illness
News of the death of Mrs. John Bakke of near Elon, brings sadness to the hearts of many in this vicinity who have known her for years.

For several weeks past she had been seriously ill with lung trouble and other complications, but about 1:30 Monday afternoon was relieved of her suffering and quietly sank to her eternal rest.

Mrs. Ingeberg Bakke was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hauge Gilbertson, early residents of Paint Creek township, where she was born July 7, 1857, and was 77 years of age. She grew to young womanhood in that vicinity and resided there until her death.

In December 1879, she was united in marriage with John P. Bakke, also of Paint Creek township. They settled down to home life on a forty acre tract of land presented to them by her father.

Mr. and Mrs. Bakke had the distinction of celebrating their golden wedding in 1930.

Eleven children were born to this union, ten of whom survive with their father, namely: Cornelius, Ingval, Melvin, Julius, Mrs. A.H. Roe, Ottenus, Delia, Paul and Theodore, all of this vicinity, and Mrs. H.A. Ellefson of Waukonda, S.D. A daughter Nora passed away in 1916. She is also survived by an only brother, G.A. Gilbertson of Paint Creek township.

Everyone who knew Mrs. Bakke loved and admired her and instinctively felt her motherly tenderness. Even though her earthly pilgrimage was a long one it is hard for those near and dear to her to part with her and she will be sadly missed by her family, but memories of her life so well spent will inspire and guide them in the years to come.

Funeral services were held at 12:30 today in the West Paint Creek church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Unseth. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
