Pioneer Settler Dies.
Wm. Daulton, who has been in feeble health for some time on account of his advanced age, died at his home in this city at 10 a.m. Monday.

He was born in Penobscot, Maine, Feb. 29, 1832. In his young manhood he learned the ship carpenter trade and came west to work at it in Chicago and Grand Haven, Mich. Later he was engaged in lumbering at Green Bay, Wis. Here was married to Miss Anna Toole, June 10, 1852.

In 1857 they moved to Allamakee county and settled in Ludlow township. His wife died in 1900. Ten children were born to them, three dying in infancy.

The survivors are: Mrs. Mary Passmore, Edward, Mrs. Celia Reynolds, Miss Alice, all of Waukon; Mrs. Elizabeth Conkey, Sault Ste Marie, Mich.; Lyman, Aberdeen, Wash.; Miss Nellie Haas, Clinton, Minn.

Mr. Daulton retired from farming and took up his residence in this city about fifteen years ago. At this writing no date has been fixed for the funeral as they are waiting to hear from relatives at a distance.

The funeral of Wm. Daulton, notice of whose death appeared in our last issue, was held at the home Friday afternoon, having been delayed awaiting the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Daulton of Alma, Wash.

All of the children were present except Mrs. H.O. Conkey of Sault Ste Marie, Mich., who was detained because of sickness.

Services at the house were conducted by Rev. Van Nice and at the grave by the Masons, the deceased being one of the oldest members of the order in the State.
