Mrs. Luckens [sic], a venerable English lady, aged about 70 years, who has been a resident of Lansing upwards of 20 years, died at the residence of John Hines, last Monday morning.

She has long suffered with dropsy and it at last caused her death.

She lived alone for a number of years and is not known to have a single relative in this country. She gave her property, consisting of a house and about an acre of ground to Mr. Wm. Haney for his many acts of kindness to her. He, of course, is to pay all funeral and other expenses.

~North Iowa Journal, Wednesday, August 12, 1874; pg 3

Notes:
- She is shown on the 'Woodmansee' burial records of Old Oak Hill cemetery, with the notation "no marker", but she & her husband Richard do have a gravestone with the following inscription:
Richard Luckins, died Feb. 1861, aged 67 years
Charlotte, his wife, died August 10, 1874, aged 74 years

- 1870 US census, City of Lansing, family #301:

- Richard & Charlotte are enumerated on the 1854 & 1856 IA State Census and on the 1860 U.S. census in Lansing
