Lansing, Ia. - A Lansing teenager, injured in a one-car accident early Thursday west of here, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

William P. Manderscheid Jr., 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Manderscheid of Lansing suffered head injuries and a broken pelvis in the accident.

The youth was a passenger in a car driven by Keith Garrett, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Garrett of Lansing, according to Lansing police. Garrett was traveling toward Lansing and was about two miles west of town on Highway 9 when he lost control of the vehicle, police said. Garrett escaped injury in the accident.

Another passenger in the car, Janice Johnson, 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Johnson of Lansing was reported in "fair" condition Friday at Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Ia.

Lansing police said that four people were in the car returning from a movie at New Albin, Ia. The fourth person had been taken home before the accident. The Garrett vehicle reportedly rolled over several times but did not leave the highway. All three youths were thrown from the car. Garrett is charged with failure to have control of his vehicle by Lansing police.

Funeral arrangements for Manderscheid are pending at the Burke Funeral Home at Lansing. Surviving are his parents; one brother, Ronald, Milwaukee, Wis.; and one sister, Mary, at home.

Lansing, Ia. - Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing, for William Manderscheid Jr., 17, who died Friday of injuries he received early Thursday in a one-car accident west of here.

Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery,, Lansing. Friends may call at the Burke Funeral Home in Lansing.
