Mrs. J. G. Ratcliffe Dead.
Word came from Waukon yesterday of the sudden death of Mrs. J. G. Rattcliffe Tuesday evening. Mrs. Ratcliffe has been a sufferer from heart disease for some years and during the latter part of May was very ill. Of late she was so much better that Mr. Ratcliffe had ventured on a business trip to Montana, thus leaving their daughter Miss Belle Ratcliffe as her mother’s only companion at the time of her death. Beside the husband and daughter at home four other children survive—Dr. J. J. Ratcliffe of Big Falls, Mont., Ben Ratcliffe living in the west, and two married daughters, one residing at Evanston, Ill. and one in Boston. Mrs. Ratcliffe was one of the old residents of Waukon and was much beloved by a wide circle of acquaintances. Decorah friends will sympathize deeply with the family in their bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Ruth who was born Oct. 11, 1839 and died June 8, 1909. She is buried in the Oakland Cemetery.
