Very true is the oft-repeated saying that "the old citizens are rapidly passing away." It becomes our sad duty this week to record the sudden and very unexpected death, on Monday evening, of Mrs. White, at her home on the park. For some time past the lady had been ailing, but none knew or in the least expected that death would so soon claim her as his own.

Deceased was one of the early settlers in the county. She was a kind, christian woman, one who will be greatly missed in this vicinity. She leaves three children, one son and two daughters. The former, Alson A., is of Kansas City and the latter, Mrs. E.W. Otis and Miss Mamie, of this city. The former had just taken her departure for the North, and the summons home is very sad, indeed.

We desire to express our sincere thanks to the many kind friends who have aided us, by the most considerate attention during our recent bereavement.
Mrs. Ella Otis
Miss Mamie White
