FINAL RITES FOR MABEL GELO
The Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiated at the funeral of Mabel Cora Gelo, 87, Waukon, Monday, Jan. 19, at 1:30 p.m. in Zion United Church of Christ. She died Saturday Jan. 17 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.

She was born August 23, 1888 in French Creek Township to Jacob and Johanna Leppert Ebner. She married Herman Gelo in French Creek Township June 9, 1908. He preceded her in death Sept. 14, 1954.

Surviving children are Mrs. Harold (Cora) Ashbacher and Mrs. Leona Marti of Waukon and Edwin and Mrs. Clarence (Bernice) Bieber of Lansing.

She was a life-long area resident and attended the local schools. She was employed as a teacher and housewife and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.

Interment was in Oakland Cemetery and pallbearers were Floyd Wild, Lewis Ebner, Charles Ebner, Art Gelo, Walter Gelo, and Robert Hartley.

Martin funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
