Sudden Summons
This community was startled Monday about noon by word of the sudden death, at Prairie du Chien, Wis., of Wm. Rice, one of Lansing township's well known farmers. Mr. Rice had been sick for about six weeks and was advised to try the remedial effects of the baths at Prairie du Chien, so on Thursday last repaired to the new Sanitarium, his wife accompanying him. She returned next morning comforted in the fact that he felt fine after his first bath and thought the treatment was going to bring him out all right. A letter from him Saturday contained encouragement but Monday a "phone message" brought bad news and before his wife could reach him death had ensued of heart failure.
Deceased was aged about forty years, being to the manor born in Lansing township, and is survived by a heart-broken wife, two sons, aged seven and nine years, one brother, Joe, tow sisters, Mrs. John Zimet of this township and Miss Lizzie of St. Paul, Minn., also four half brothers, George of this city, Frank and Simon of California, and John of Waterloo.
The funeral takes place from Immaculate Conception church this morning at 10 o'clock, burial in Gethsemane cemetery.
