Charlene T. Garrett, 86, of Lansing, IA died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing, IA.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 15, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Lansing, IA with Rev. Dick Iles officiating.

Burial was held at the Lansing Ridge Cemetery, rural Lansing.

She is survived by five children: Jean (Les) McCauley of Decorah, IA; Keith (Mary) Garrett of La Crescent, MN; Lynette (Ron) Lysne and Joanne (Tom) Hovey both of Decorah, IA; Joyce Garrett of Reno, NV. There are 11 grandchildren; Kevin and Steven McCauley, Michelle Hess, Jon and Jill Garrett, Renee Rabe, Greg Lysne, Devon and Tyler Hovey, Sarah and Rachel Morton; 10 great grandchildren; Mason, Mitchell, Madison, Kelsie, Maggie, Michael and Molly McCauley, Dylan and Sammy Hess and Jackson Rabe; and a brother John Lenz of Payson, AZ.

Charlene was born Sept. 10, 1918 in Center township, Allamakee County, IA to Harry and Anna (Batteen) Lenz. She married Earl C. Garrett on May 15, 1941 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Earl died April 2, 1995.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Mom’s friends and neighbors who have helped her over the years and also to the staff of Thornton Manor for their exceptional loving care.
