DIED. At his residence near Jefferson, Minnesota, on the 16th inst., James Callahan, aged 40 years.

Death has claimed another of the early settlers of our county. The deceased was born in County Wicklow, Ireland; came to America in 1838, and has been a resident of Allamakee county about 22 years.

He was an honest, upright man, and was greatly respected by his neighbors.

The remains were buried yesterday in the Hurly burying ground, and were followed to the grave by the largest concourse of mourning friends ever witnessed in that vicinity. He was a good man, and his presence will be sadly missed in that community where he had so long resided.
