Another Old Soldier Summoned
Ira Stevens, living on the old Schinzel place in Lafayette township, died suddenly of heart failure last Thursday, aged 67 years. Deceased had been to town the day before.He belonged to Co. B, 30th Wisconsin Inf., and prior to moving to this vicinity a few years ago had made Waukon his home.
He is survived by a widow, four sons, Ernest and Oliver of Sioux City; Arthur of Pierre, S.D.; and Frank at home; also a brother, Daniel of Waukon; two sisters, Mrs. C.M. Wilson of Humboldt, and Mrs. N.J. Shry of Columbus, Neb.; and one stepson, Bert Evans, of Seattle, Wash.
His son Ernest of Sioux City was in attendance at the funeral which was held from the M.E. church at Waukon Sunday.
At the request of the family thanks are hereby tendered to the neighbors and friends, and especially the old soldiers, for their many acts of kindness and sympathy extended.

The body of Ira Stevens, who resided near Lansing and died quite suddenly last Wednesday night, arrived in this city Friday and was taken to the home of his brother, Dan Stevens.
The deceased was 68 years old and served during the war of the rebellion as a member of Co. B, Thirtieth Wisconsin.
He resided in this city for a number of years and was sexton of Oakland cemetery. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon, services being held in the Methodist church, Rev. Temple officiating, and burial in Oakland cemetery.
