Mrs. Mary Stark Gerky of Cottonwood, passed away at a local hospital about 12:40 o'clock Tuesday, after an illness of many weeks.
Funeral services are to be held Friday, August 3, at 2 o'clock, from the Van Orsdel Methodist church in Havre. The Rev. John Morange will officiate and burial will be in Highland cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Stark Gerky was born August 16 1859, in Allamakee county, Iowa. she was married on October 25, 1882, to Emil Gerky.
From Iowa, the Gerkys moved to North Dakota remaining there a year, then coming to Montana, and settling on a homestead at Cottonwood in 1911.
Mrs. Gerky is survived by her husband, Emil Gerky, and five living children: Mrs. William Russell, Peace River, Ida.; Mrs. Margaret Donaldson, Warm Springs; Mrs. Theodore Larson, Ernest Gerky and William Henry Gerky, Cottonwood. A son, Frank, passed away in 1923.
Two sisters also survive her: Mrs. Henry Seafert of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Matilda Volkhart, of Galt, Ia.; and by ten grandchildren.
She had been a member of the Methodist church. Pallbearers at the funeral will be Hilbert H.J. Peterson, Magnus P. Peterson, Lum Parson, Emil Draeger, J.C. Buzzell and Claire Young.
