Mr. L. Woolstrom of Waterloo township gives us the following particulars of a terrible affair which occurred in his neighborhood Monday. Joe Sieren, wife and four children have been living in the house on the old Dan Thies place, two miles south of Dorchester.

Monday Mr. and Mrs. Sieren were up at the Steinbach place, leaving the children at home alone. The oldest one was a boy of thirteen. About 2 p.m., the second oldest boy with the youngest child appeared at the Steinbach home and said that the house was burning and the second youngest child, a girl of eight years, was in it. When the parents got there the house was a mass of flame and nothing could be done.

Later the remains of the little girl were found near the kitchen door. The thirteen year old boy, who remained at the fire, was badly frightened, and how the fire started and why the eight year old girl could not escape, remains unexplained.
