On Sunday, March 12, after an illness of almost three months, death came to the relief of Herman Laabs, a sufferer from heart disease.

About seven weeks ago he went to La Crosse and the doctors there confirmed what local physicians had told him and gave him less than two months to live. Mr. Laabs was around until about a week before his death and made a hard struggle for life but was not afraid to die.

Deceased was born in Germany 64 years, 7 months and 23 days ago. On April 20, 1880, he was married in French Creek township to Miss Barbara Bockfinger, who survives him with six children, five boys - Gus and Henry, at home; John of Tacoma, Wash.; Ferd of Clayton, Mo., and Jacob, in the navy; and one girl, the wife of Rev. Geo Frank of Emery, S.D. A brother, Ferdinand of this city adn two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Buege of French Creek, and Mrs. B. Deters of Eitzen, Minn., also survive him.

Mr. Laabs has been a resident of Lansing for about twenty-seven years, and was a quiet, inoffensive and God fearing citizen. The funeral took place from the German Presbyterian church yesterday at 2 p.m. Peace to his ashes.
