Dr. O.Deremo of Elon, who has been in poor health for a long time, died on the 20th, aged 78 years. He was one of Allamakee's earliest settlers, coming to the county in 1851 and residing here continuously since. He was native of St. Lawrence county, New York, and practiced medicine in connection with his farming operations until compelled to desist on account of his health. A large family of grown children survive him, his wife preceding him to the grave some years ago. The funeral occurred Tuesday of last week, interment taking place in Oakland cemetery, Waukon.
