Lansing Mirror, Feb. 11, 1881: Death of Another Pioneer. Mrs. Margaret Botsford, wife of the late Henry Botsford, one of the pioneer women of Allamakee county, died at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Manson Purdy, in this place, on Monday night.

"Grandma Botsford" had reached her 67th year, and with but brief interval, resided in this place since 1852, being one among the earliest settlers.

The infirmities of advanced years, in addition to a consumptie taint, rendered her an invalid for a year past, and confined her to her bed since last August. She suffered intensely but bore her affliction with a courage characteristic of one who had cheerfully endured the privations incident to early years in this locality.

She reared several children, and was a foster-mother to numerous others and in the relation of wife and mother was most dutiful and kindly. In the community at large she was respected and loved. The funeral took place from the M.E. church yesterday forenoon, services conducted by Rev. H.W. Houghton.
