FINAL RITES FOR MRS. HEGEMAN

A Mass of Requiem was said Saturday, Jan. 21 in St. Patrick's Church in Waukon for Mrs. William Hegeman. The Rev. John McDonald officiated and interment was in Mount Olivet cemetery. Robert O. Anderson, Robert McDonald, Tom Champion, Bill Hegeman, Dwight Lawson and R. Jim Hegeman were casket bearers.

Mrs. Hegeman, who was in ill health for several years, died Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Good Samaritan Center. She was born Jeanette Dougherty June 11, 1884 and was a daughter of John and Kathryn Dougherty. She was educated in the Waukon schools and was a school teacher before her marriage. June 20, 1904 she married William Hegeman in Waukon and they lived in Northwood, where her husband was superintendent of schools for five years.

Survivors are four children: Don of Waukon, Robert of Chicago, Ill; Mrs. Jim (Mary) Hutchinson of Santa Clara, Calif., and Mrs. Aldo (Catherine) Minegar of Orange, Calif. Nineteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Kathryn and Florence, and a brother Emmett Dougherty.

Mrs. Hegeman was a member of St. Patrick's Church. She was a member of the Iowa Historical society for several years and was a writer of historical articles. She was active in civic and church groups and served on the library board for many years.

Bakke and Hanson was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
