Marge Slattery Baxter was born December 23, 1931, on a farm near Waterville, Iowa, the daughter of William F. and Thelma O. (Hermanson) Slattery. Bill took the team and buggy into Waterville and picked up Dr. Dillon and brought him to the farm for her birth. On June 21, 1950, she married John T. Baxter at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Marge and John farmed in Union Prairie Township all their married life. For 53 years she was instrumental in the success of the farm and operation of the home. She was a very loving and dedicated mother to her twelve children and spent countless hours tending to their care and well being.
