C.M. Stone received notification Friday of the death of Mrs. Augustine Hersey at Des Moines. The body arrived here Saturday forenoon and was taken to the Stone residence. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Young of the M.E. church conducting the services in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Kinsman. Burial in Oakland cemetery.

Harriett Dwinell Hersey was born at Foxcroft, Maine, March 12, 1825. In 1844 she was united in marriage to Augustine Hersey. They resided in Foxcroft until 1851 when they came to Iowa and settled on what is now known as Makee Ridge, where they lived until about 1861, when they moved to Waukon, then a small village, where Mr. Hersey engaged in the mercantile business, which he continued until the time of his death in 1888.

After the death of her husband Mrs. Hersey continued her residence in Waukon for several years and then made her home with her son, Alden, in Markesan and Fond du Lac, Wis., until the year 1900, when they moved to Dubuque and made their home with her daughter, Mrs. V.H. Stevens.

Recently she moved with her daughter to Des Moines, where, with her son, she resided until the time of her death, October 29, at the age of 90 years.

She is survived by two children, Alden D. and Mrs. V.H. Stevens, both of whom were present at the funeral.
