DONALD JAMES BOLLMAN 1907-1979
Services were held with a prayer service Tuesday, November 27, 1979 at 10:30 at Schultz's Funeral home and 11:30 church services held at Forest Mills Church, rural Postville, for Donald James Bollman, who passed away on November 24, 1979. Pastor Curtis Webster officiated. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery, rural Luana. Pallbearers were members of the Leslie H. Smith American Legion Post 519 and the Amvets Post 27. Military services at graveside were conducted by the above organizations. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Bollman, James Bollman, Clark Bollman, Scott Bollman, Mike Walz, and Dean Walz. Organist was Lanny Marting. Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona held charge of arrangements.
Donald James Bollman, the son of Ira S. and Edna Mae Perkins Bollman, was born April 9, 1907 at Postville. He was baptized and confirmed. He received his education in the schools of the area. He was employed by the Luana Creamery as a bookkeeper for 27 years. In 1942 he was inducted into the Army, where he served as Medic until his discharge in 1945. He was a member of Leslie H. Smith American Legion Post 519, and the Amvet Post 27.
Along with his brother-in-law, Maurice Price, they opened the B & P Shop in Monona. He retired in 1975. On March 22, 1974, he was united in marriage to Gladys Cords. They have resided in Volney since 1974. He died Saturday, November 24, 1979 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, having reached the age of 72 years, 7 months, 15 days.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister, Mrs. Maurice (Helen) Price. Surviving him is his wife, Gladys, daughter, Mrs. James (Karon) Hendrickson of Farley, two granddaughters, Barbara and Debra, four brothers, Clyde of Strawberry Point, Avery of Waverly, Everett of Luana, Leo of Monona, and one sister, Mrs. Leatrice Sharp of Prairie du Chien, Wisc. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
