Mary Beirno, born in Cloonard, County Roscommin, Ireland, in the year 1831. Came to America in the year 1853, settling at Prairie du Chien, Wis.

In the year 1863, she was married at Harpers Ferry to Thomas Parrell of that town, where they lived beloved of neighbors and friends.

Her husband died 43 years ago. No children were born to them, so the mother heart turned to those near and dear, and she reared five of her beloved ones to splendid manhood and womanhood.

Eight years ago last January she met with an accident, and her grand niece, Mrs. J.M. Berry brought her to her home, where she has received every possible care, until the summons came, and the beautiful soul passed to a higher reward.

She died at 4:30 Monday morning, April 5, after a few weeks illness, aged eighty-four years.

The burial was at her old home town, Harpers Ferry, Wednesday morning, April 7, Rev. Father Sheehan officiating at the last rites. A devoted member of the church, she lived a beautiful life of christianity and benevolence.

She leaves to mourn her passing away several nieces and nephews, beside her grand niece, Mrs. J.M. Berry and nephew, Captain Sweeney living here.

Miss Margaret Berry, Mrs. Stanton, Mrs. W.H. Sloan, Mrs. Cassidy and John Burke accompanied the relatives to Harpers Ferry for the funeral services.
