WAUKON - Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Opfer, 58, will be conducted Saturday at the Zion Reformed church by the Rev. F.E. Stucki. Burial will be Oakland cemetery. As Clara Ludeking, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ludeking, she was born in Winnshiek county. The family moved to a farm in Ludlow township where she was married in 1903 to Fred Opfer. Five years ago they moved to Waukon. Besides the husband, she is survived by six children, Mrs. Levi Sande of Locust; Mrs. Clay Gericke, near Postville, Albert, Rossville; Clarence, Carl and Paul, Waukon. Also four grandchildren and the following brothers and a sister: Jake Ludeking, Winnshiek county; David, near Waukon; S.W., president of the Waukon State bank; Fred, garage owner; Henry, Ben and John, bookkeeper; and Mrs. August Klein, all of Waukon.
Note: Gravestone records indicate Clara Opfer was the daughter of Heinrich and Dorothea Charlotte (Fiet) Ludeking. She was born July 10, 1881 and date of death was November 7, 1939.
