Miss Emma Opfer Dies; Longtime ISTC Teacher
WAUKON - Miss Emma Opfer, 67, a teacher at Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls, for 25 years, died Wednesday night at the Veterans Memorial hospital here.
Born Oct. 18, 1887, at Waukon, Miss Opfer was graduated from Waukon high school and Iowa State Teachers college. She received a master's degree from the University of Chicago.
Miss Opfer taught at Atlantic, Vinton and Waterloo before joining the ISTC faculty. She retired last year.
Survivors include two sisters; Minnie of Waukon, and Mrs. Jackson Ogilvie, and a brother, Albert of Wazatta, Minn.
Funeral arrangements are being made at Martin's funeral home.
Note: Gravestone records indicate Emma Opfer was the daughter of Simon Henry and Fredricka Dorothea (Hansmeier) Opfer
