Dr. LLOYD V. DOUGLAS - died 1978
Services for Dr. Lloyd V. Douglas, 75, former head of the University of Northern Iowa business education and office administration department, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 1978 at United Church of Christ in Cedar Falls.
Dr. Douglas died Wednesday at an Iowa City Hospital where he had been a patient for a week.
He was born in Brandon and was graduated from La Porte City High School. He received three degrees in commerce from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Douglas joined the Northern Iowa faculty in 1937, retiring in 1970. He founded Phi Beta Lamda, a college business fraternity and the Future Business Leaders of America high school business interest group. He was a national president and national organizer of Pi Omega Pi national business education honorary fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, the former Virginia Marston of Postville; a nephew, Gordon Beales of Marshalltown and a sister, Mrs. C. C. Beales of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one brother and one sister.
Interment was in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
