Mother and Daughter Die on the Same Date.
Last week we briefly chronicled the departure of Mr. and Mrs. Cy Strong for Paola, Kansas, called by the serious illness of their daughter, Mrs. C. B. Strong. On the train between Bellevue and Savanna, Mrs. Strong passed away of acute heart failure, and the body was brought back to the old home in Columbus the next afternoon, being taken off the train at Savanna, Ills.
The same date, May 3d, at Paola, Kansas, their oldest daughter, Mrs. C. B. Strong, died of intestinal obstruction, aged 42 years, 7 months and 13 days. The mother's age wa 71 years and 8 months. The husband, Cyrus, and five daughters survive her as follows: Mrs. Lester Smith and Mrs. Levert Crofoot, Dubuque; Mrs. Christ Mortenson, Paola, Kansas; Mrs. J. C. Hayford and Mrs. Lawrence Hayford, Waukon. Mrs. Strong, the daughter, leaves a husband and two children, Claude Jr., and Grace.
The remains of Mrs. C. B. Strong arrived Friday and burial was withheld until Sunday awaiting the arrival of relatives who were driving overland from Kansas.
The double funeral was held from the Federated church Sunday, afternoon, at 2 o'clock, Elder R. F. Bresee, of Cedar Rapids, who had been holding Adventist meetings at Waukon, officiating, and being assisted by the pastor, Rev. N. E. Bottom. Music for the occasion was furnished by James H. Roeds of Burlington and Mrs. Bresee, with Mrs. Roeds as accompanist. Both mother and daughter belonged to the Adventist church. Burial in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The elder Mrs. Strong is Mary Jane nee Horne 1855-May 3, 1927. Wife of Cyrus A. Strong 1846-1932.

Their daughter, also Mrs. Strong, is Marie Laura nee Strong, wife of C.B. Strong. She was b. 1884 and died May 3, 1927.
