Wilbur L. Peck, former Allamakee county superintendent of schools, died Saturday night in the Waukon hospital where he was taken a few hours before with a complication of diseases. Born in Ossian Aug. 25, 1872, he was reared in Winneshiek county and and educated at Lenox and Iowa State Teachers colleges. He spent eight years as principal of the Waukon Business college before he became superintendent of schools in Allamakee county, in which capacity he served 25 years. In 1930 he was democratic nominee for congress in the Fourth district. He declined the nomination offered him in 1932 when Roosevelt and the democratic ticket swept the district.

Mrs. Peck, nee Nell Ewick of Kokomo, Ind., died several years ago. Surviving are two brothers, Ira of Waterloo and James of Decorah. Burial will be Tueday at Frankville, Winneshiek county.
