Funeral services for Van Doren Walters, 79, lifelong resident of Allamakee county, were held Thursday afternoon at the Rossville Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. E. (?)odeheim of Riceville. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson (Sally Maria Moore) Walters, he was born on a farm south of Waukon Dec. 25, 1859, and died at his home in Rossville July 27, following a years illness. He never married. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters, *Freeman, *Emory and Miss Nettie Walters of Jefferson township, and Mrs. Charles Carpenter of Waukon.

*NOTE: Gravestone records indicate the names as Freedom and Emery Walters.
