Waukon - Ethel Smith, 92, a Waukon primary teacher for 47 years before her retirement in 1940, died Monday.

A native of Center township, she was graduated from Waukon high school and taught in rural schools and in New Albin and Oelwein before coming to the Waukon school system in 1893.

She was the last survivor of her family.

Services Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church. The body is at the Martin funeral home.

Waukon, Ia. - Miss Ethel Smith, 92, an elementary school teacher, died Tuesday night at the Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Waukon. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Surviving are two nieces and nephews.
