Martha B. (Robinson) Hoffman, was born at Royalton, Vermont, Sept. 11, 1827, and died at Monona, Iowa, Jan. 1, 1910.

She was married to Henry Eggleston, Dec. 1, 1842. Two children were born to them, William and Mattie. At this time their home was in Utah. In 1858, Mrs. Eggleston was married to John Maloy. One child, Honora came into their home, and she died in her 18th year. John Maloy was killed by the Indians in 1862. After this Mrs. Malloy returned east, going to Wisconsin, where in1865 she was married to Martin Hoffman. Eleven years later they came to Iowa, in Allamakee Co., where Mr. Hoffman died 13 years ago. Since then, Mrs. Hoffman has had a home with her son Fred. Four children survive to mourn her loss: Wm. Eggleston, of Canada, (?), S.A. Casper of Dakota, Cyrus Hoffman of Nebraska, and Fred Hoffman of Monona.

The funeral services were held Jan. 3, in the Methodist church. The body was taken to Sixteen that it might be interred by the side of her husband.

Her toil worn hands nor wearied feet,
Have entered into rest,
Earths journey done her work complete,
She waits supremely blest.

Borne by His love across the time,
Beyond all grief and sin,
The gates of pearl have opened wide,
And she is safe within.
