Funeral Rites Held For Mrs. Kuehne
Funeral services for Mrs. George Kuehne, 87, of Rossville were held at the Schultz Funeral home, Thursday afternoon, Aug. 10, at 1:30 o'clock with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating.
Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.
Mrs. Kuehne died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 8, at 12:33 o'clock at the Veteran's Memorial hospital in Waukon, where she had been a patient for the last two weeks.
As Effie, she was born a daughter of Eardley and Amanda Cassada, May 20, 1874, near Volney. She was married to George Kuehne, March 1, 1896, at Rossville. They lived in the communities during their married life.
Mrs. Kuehne attended the Volney Methodist church and the Rossville Presbyterian church. She liked to do fancy work in later years and spent much of her time with this work. She made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Stahl in Rossville, for the last two and half years.
Preceding her in death, were her husband, who died April 17, 1959; a son, Roy, who died in infancy; and her parents.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Winnie) Huffman of Rossville, Mrs. Cecil (Pearl) Stahl of Rossville, Mrs. Lon (Ida) Sawvell of Monona and Mrs. Albert (Arita) Opfer of Hawthorne, Calif.; one son, Cleo of Moline, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Roy (Edith) Leas of Monona; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Ben Frese, who sang "Going Down the Valley," requested by the deceased. Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz was the accompanist.
Pallbearers were: Frank Mielke, Harley Leas, Andrew Koontz, Jake Kolowinski, Cloyd Pettit, and William McMillan.
