John R. Johnson Dies; Retired Mail Carrier

John R. Johnson, 77, retired mail carrier, died Sunday.

Born June 19, 1884, in Norway, he came to Allamakee county at the age of four with his parents. He was married to Laura Toney in 1911. She died in 1960. He served as a mail carrier from 1909 to 1948.

Survivors include a brother, Robert, of Waukon, and five sisters, Mrs. Adolph Larson and Mrs. Gilmore Stadsvold, Waukon; Gunda Martindale, Postville; Mrs. Fred Mickey, Mason City, and Mrs. Silas Campbell, Easton, Wash.

Services: Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian church. Body at Martin Funeral home.
