Hold Last Rite Mrs. J.J. Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. H. Johnson, 87, of Waterville were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 23, at 1 o'clock from the home to the Old West Paint Creek Lutheran church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. E.O. Ballson officiating.

Burial was in the family lot in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, Oct. 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alex Grangaard, at Waterville, following an extended period of failing health.

As Gena Drogset, she was born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Drogset in Paint Creek township, Allamakee county, Dec. 31, 1862. Her parents were pioneer settlers in that vicinity.

She was married to John H. Johnson, May 27, 1886, who preceded her in death, Sept. 26, 1932.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Minnie) Bakke, Mrs. George (Julia) Gilbertson, Mrs. Alex (Mabel) Grangaard, and Mrs. Julius (Helen) Bakke of the Waterville vicinity; one son, Julius Johnson of Monona; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters and four sons.
