DAVID WILSON EWING 1939-1972

Services for David Ewing, 33, of Valley Forge, Pa., and formerly of Waukon, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church at Waukon. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Martin Funeral Home here.

Mr. Ewing was one of two men killed in a plane crash in Alaska on Aug. 25, 1972. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Michael Dean and Paul David and two daughters, Nancy Renee and Christine Dianne, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Gene (Helen) Watson of Waukon, and a brother, Jerry of Albany, N. Y.

EX-AREA MEN LOST IN ALASKA

Anchorage, Alaska -- Two former residents of Waukon, Ia., are apparently missing on a hunting trip near here, along with a bush pilot who flew them to their destination. Authorities would release only fragmentary information Saturday night, but search operations for Michael Daman, 31, of Waterloo, Neb., and David Ewing, 33, of Philadelphia have been resumed after being hampered by fog since Wednesday. The pilot's name was not released.

Daman is the son of Mrs. Kathryn Daman of Waukon and Ewing is the son of Mrs. Gene Watson of rural Waukon. The two went to school and worked in a supermarket together in Waukon. There has been no communication from the plane since Aug. 25. The trio is believed to be about 90 miles from Anchorage.

Daman, the father of a 10-year-old girl, operates a real estate and airplane sales service at Omaha's Eppley Field. Ewing, the father of four children, is a wholesale meat packaging executive. Mrs. Daman said her son moved to Waukon to Ohio 10 to 12 years ago. Ewing moved from Waukon about eight years ago.

Submitter notes: David was born May 5, 1939, son of Willis William and Helen Margaret (Jacobia) Ewing. Willis Ewing died August 27, 1947; Helen remarried in 1949 to Gene O. Watson. David married Phyllis Ann Wall on August 21, 1960.
