Decorah, Ia. - Funeral services for August Fredrik Christian Baltz, 64, were conducted here Monday afternoon at the home and at Brandt's Mortuary. The Rev. T.A. Hoff, Lutheran pastor, officiated and burial was in the cemetery at Postville.

Mr. Baltz died in the Decorah Hospital Friday night of injuries sustained that afternoon when hit by a truck on the street in Garnavillo where he was doing some sign painting. He never regained consciousness following the accident.

He was born in Germany Dec. 6, 1875, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick H. Baltz. He immigrated to America and to Postville when six years old. He was educated in the rural schools of Alamakee County and Breckenridge Institute in Decorah. He then became interested in sign painting, a trade which he continued until his death.

On June 4, 1925, he married Miss Thena Johnson, who survives with four brothers and four sisters: Carl of St. Louis, William and Fred, both of Postville; Ernest of Castalia; Mrs. William Gentz of Monona; Mrs. Charles Johnson of Minneapolis; and Mrs. Frank Buhlman and Mrs. Ernest Klaus, both of Waterloo.

His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
