AUGUST FISHER/FISCHER 1863-1901

August Fisher was born in 1863 in Shisinghauser, Hanover, Germany, came to this country 19 years ago and settled in Butler county and from there went to Guttenberg and from there he moved to this (Postville, Iowa) vicinity. He died last week Thursday, of heart trouble. Four children, one brother and two sisters and his aged mother survive him. The funeral was held from the Germany Lutheran church last Saturday afternoon.

Submitters note: August Fisher/Fischer died Dec. 19,1901 and was buried at the Postville cemetery on 21 Dec 1901, beside his first wife, Katie and first son Fritz. August was married first to Katie Schultz/Schulte. They had three children: Fritz Fischer (1884-1889) , Elsie Dorothy (Fischer) Meyer (1893-1989) and William Fischer (1897-1958). Katie died October 22, 1898. (See her obit located on this site.) August married his second wife, Bertha Kuhse, daughter of Albert and Wilhelmina (Zell) Kuhse, on January 24, 1899. This union produced two children: Walter Fischer (1901-1984) and Chris Fischer (1900-1976). August's brother was William Henry Fischer (1865-1925). His sisters were Louisa (Fischer) Nuehring (1860-1953) and Minnie (Fischer) Buchels/Buechele Knoke/Knocke. His mother was Dorothea Catharina Caroline (Brase) Fischer Lienau.
