LANSING, Iowa - Frederick Wayne Steiber, 60, rural Lansing, died Wednesday, March 7, in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.

He was born on July 9, 1923, in rural Lansing to Fred and Selma (Dee) Steiber. He married Marjorie Maust on June 7, 1947, in Lansing and the couple farmed in the Lansing area.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Alan and Daryl, both of Lansing, and Byron of Newton, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Cheryl) Blythe of Dallas City, Ill.; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Viette Englehorn and Mrs. Muriel Cooper, both of Harpers Ferry, Mrs. Willis (Myrtle) Mathis of Waukon and Mrs. Edith Love of Mesa, Ariz.; and two brothers, Bernard of Lansing and Nelvin of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and two sisters.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Lansing. The Rev. Tom Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, today from 2 to 9 p.m., and at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the services.
