Final Rites Today For Mrs. Franklin
Mrs. Flora A. Franklin passed away at the Postville Hospital Monday June 6, 1949. She had been a patient in the hospital for three years.
Funeral services are being conducted today at 2:00 P.M. at the Community Presbyterian Church by Rev. R. Franklin Galloway of Cedar Rapids, who was a former pastor here. Mrs. Walter T. Martin is the soloist accompanied by Mrs. Robert Burling.
Flora A. Cook, daughter of Aaron Burr and Caroline Cook, was born in Michigan on May 7, 1861. She was the oldest child of a family of eleven.
She was married to O. D. Franklin in 1884. Mr. Franklin died in 1900.
Mrs. Franklin is survived by one brother, Perry E. Cook of Waterloo, and two sisters, Gwendolyn Campbell of Phoenix, Arizona and Myrtle M. McGhee of Dubuque.
She united with the Community Presbyterian Church on January 7, 1923.

Submitters notes: Flora's mother's maiden name was Machemer. Flora is buried in the Minert Cemetery. She was a school teacher at some point in her life. Her husband was the son of Gideon and Adaline (Thomas) Franklin. Gideon died in the Civil War and Adaline later married Rueben Smith, who had built the Old Stone House between Postville and Waukon.
