Linda M. Sires, 64, of New Albin, IA, died Monday, October 20, 2014, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24th, at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Linda Marie Sires was born February 23, 1950, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Kenneth William and Lyla Vivian (Solberg) Smith. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, and attended Waukon schools and later received her GED.
Linda worked at the New Albin Grocery Store and Post Office for several years. She also worked as a cook at the East Side Cafe in New Albin, and did some catering for many special occasions. Linda was a member of Waukon Harley Davidson H.O.G. Chapter. She loved to cook and bake for her family. Linda enjoyed reading, working in her garden, doing lawn work, and spending time with her family and friends. Linda would go out of her way to help others.
Survivors include her children: Andrew (Jessieca) Sires and Sarah (Donald) Oakland, both of Waukon, and Chad Sires of Denver, CO; five grandchildren: Paul Sires, Hannah and Abby Rogers, Emma and Wade Oakland; a special friend Donald (Jim) Hyde; three sisters: Karen (Lawrence) Donahue of New Albin, Sue Freese of Waukon, and Peggy (Jim) Wilson of Prairie du Chien, WI; five brothers: Rick (Theresa) Smith of Waukon, Dennis (Cindy) Smith of Marquette, IA, and Randy (Pam) Smith, Fred (Geralyn) Smith, and Greg (Kristie) Smith, all of Waukon.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Ronald Smith; a sister Patty Gilman; and an infant brother and sister. Casketbearers are Fred, Greg, Dennis, and Randy Smith, Jared Donahue, and Mike Mitchell Jr.
