HAROLD LOUIS GROTH
Harold Louis Groth, son of Ernest and Augusta Kempke Groth, was born January 7, 1909 in Post Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, and departed this life April 18, 1979 at Postville, Iowa, at the age of 70 years.
He was united in marriage May 24, 1933 to Caryl Bulman of Frankville, Iowa. To their union a son, Ernest, and two daughters, Elaine and Janet, were born.
He farmed in the rural Castalia, Iowa, area, engaged in the cattle business. He and his wife, in retirement, moved to Postville in 1975. In leisure time, he enjoyed fishing. He was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Postville, baptized March 29, 1909 by Pastor Kuehne, and confirmed September 2, 1923 by Pastor Schmidt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter.
He is survived by his wife, Caryl, Postville; his son, Ernest, rural Castalia; two daughters, Mrs. John (Elaine) Meyer, Postville, and Mrs. William (Janet) Shelton, Englewood, Colorado; three brothers, Arthur, Ortonville, Minnesota, Fred, of Postville, and Luther, Mabel, Minnesota; two sisters, Esther, of Decorah, Iowa, and Mrs. Ruth Archer, Gilbertville, Arizona; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Postville Cemetery.
