HENRY HAGER 1885-1953
Funeral services were held last Wednesday, November 25, from the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville to the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church of Ludlow for Henry Hager, 68, who passed away at his home in Ludlow on November 23. Rev. John Bartell, pastor of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, was in charge of the rites. Burial was made in the Frankville cemetery.
Henry Hager, son of Henry and Sophia Grotegut Hager, was born February 2, 1885 in Ludlow township, Allamakee county, where most of his life was spent. He passed away at his home on November 23, 1953 due to a stroke, having attained the age of 68 years, nine months and 21 days.
He was baptized May 10, 1885 and was confirmed and joined the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church of Ludlow on March 26, 1899 and in which he has served as elder the past five years.
Mr. Hager was married to Rose Etta Stock of Frankville on May 3, 1916. To this union six children were born, three of whom have preceded him in death, an infant Dorothy, Lester and Arlene.
He is survived by his wife and three children -- Elmer, Donald and Mrs. Arthur Guese (Doris), all of Ludlow; four grandchildren; five brothers and four sisters -- Mrs. Herman Nolting (Lydia), Fred and Edward of Waukon, Mrs. Albert Henning (Helen) of Ludlow, Mrs. Earl Livingood (Sophia) of Decorah, Mrs. Melvin Ewing (Hattie), Otto and Elmer of Castalia, and William of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; also two aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.
