Mark B. Hager, 48, of Waukon, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wis., with Pastor Howard Mace and Pastor Andy Doll officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Mark Buck Hager was born August 8, 1956, in Waterloo, the son of Rev. Donald and Marian (Buck) Hager. He accepted Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church in New Hartford and graduated from New Hartford High School in 1975. July 29, 1978, he married Janet Barker at Calvary Baptist Church in Decorah. After they were married they lived in Ossian, where he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department.

Mark and Janet moved to Monona in 1980 and then moved to Waukon in 1985. He drove a semi for CH Wilson Transport in Charles City and later for Agriprocessors in Postville. After moving to Waukon he was a caregiver at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville and Waukon. At the time of his passing, he was working for Welch Feed and LP Gas in Waukon.

Mark was a member of Bible Baptist Church, where he loved spending time and enjoyed singing. He served as an EMT in Waukon. He also enjoyed driving semi, fishing, cutting wood, and trap shooting.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Hager; three sons, Michael (Jenny) and Justin Hager, both of Waukon, and a guardian son, Kyle Bugenhagen, of Monona; his mother, Marian Hager of Prole, Iowa; three brothers, Delmar (Linda) of Austin, Texas, Timothy (Lori) of Prole, and Warren (Laura) of Kodak, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Honorary casketbearers were Mark's nieces and nephews and Brandon Braaksma and Amos Flack. Casketbearers were Phillip and Perry Hager, Dave Durnan, Melvin Johnson, Terry Welch, and Paul Promnitz.
