Mrs. Louis Heckman, lifelong resident of this community, passed away suddenly in her home in this city last Thursday morning. She was aged 68 years, eight months and 20 days.
As Minnie Louise Muchow, the deceased was born November 1, 1870, the daughter of Henry and Anna Maria Fink Muchow in Grand Meadow Township. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Monona.
She was united in marriage to Louis Heckman, October 10,1893, and to this union six children were born of whom four survive, Mr. Heckman passing away Jan. 22, 1934.
Mrs. Heckman moved to Postville from the home farm in Post Township February 20,1934, and had lived here since. She had been in failing health for six years.
Surviving are her four children, Mrs. George Kinsel (Rosena), West Union; Lorena at home, Elmer of near Clermont, and Arbie, who resides on the old home farm in Post Township, one half sister, Mrs. Charles Warnholtz, Postville; two brothers, Henry C. Muchow, Fergus Falls, Minn., and John Muchow, Postville; sixteen grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock from the late home and at 2:30 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in this city, the Ladies Aid and the church choir rendering several songs during the services, which were conducted by Rev. F. R. Ludwig, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Postville cemetery.
The sorrowing family has the sincere sympathy of all in its bereavement. Out of town relatives here Sunday for the funeral of Mrs. Heckman included Arthur Heckman of Decorah, Christ Heckman and Erwin Heckman, Ossian, Mrs. Bertha Rounds, Fayette; Mr. and Mrs. George C. Kinsel, West Union; Mrs. Minnie Hangartner and family, Clermont Karen Muchow
